Barbara Sue Wright
November 22, 1938 – March 8, 2018
Barbara Wright attended Colorado State University. She became an Accountant and moved to Anaheim Hills, California where she met, married and lived with her husband, Nicholas F. Wright. After retirement, Barbara and her husband moved to Fort Mohave, AZ.
She became a watercolorist and active member of the River Valley Artist Guild. Throughout her years with the
Guild, Barbara held the office of Treasure, Secretary and also News Editor. She facilitated many fund raisers and coordinated the Black Mountain Art Show as well as the Tri-State High School Art Show. Barbara and her husband helped developed the Patron of the Arts and Sponsorship program and were instrumental in the Guild obtaining its 501(c) (3) Non-Profit Status.
Charlene J. Porteous
June 26, 1940 – March 29, 2014
She was a painter, sculptor and she also sewed, knitted, crocheted, embroidered, and did needlepoint. She was a member of the Creative Arts Group of Sierra Madre. After Charlene and her husband Ralph retired in Bullhead City she attended the Bullhead City Campus of the Mohave Community College in Ariz. where she continued to study art and was eligible for membership of Phi Theta Kappa, and was named to the Student’s honor list. She was an award-winning artist, member, and contributor to the Bullhead City Artist Guild.
May 17, 2014, River Valley Artist’s Guild purchased a tree, that is now planted at Mohave Community College (MCC) in Bullhead City. A plaque identifies and locates the tree between Building 400 and 600 on MCC Campus. This tree is dedicated to Charlene JoAnn Porteous for her contributions to the River Valley Artists Guild of Bullhead City, Arizona.
